asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give any approximate estimate of the trading results of the British Phosphate Commission for the year ended 30th June, 1924?
The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Thomas):
Information has been received by telegram that the sales of phosphate rock last year amounted to 450,000 tons, and that the net profit, after allowing for interest and sinking fund, may be roughly estimated at £86,000. The hon. Member will understand that the accounts have not yet been made up, and that these figures are subject to correction.
Will the right hon. Gentleman consider giving the House at the first convenient opportunity a full statement of the business proceedings of the Phosphate Commission?
Mr. THOMAS:
I should like to have a full statement myself first.
