asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether, when the re-organisation and distribution of the Fleet takes place, it is intended to retain the Fleet flagship as such with the Commander-in-Chief in the Atlantic, in addition to the Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean?
The present flagship of the Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean (His Majesty's ship "Iron Duke"), will be replaced as flagship by His Majesty's ship "Queen Elizabeth," and His Majesty's ship "Revenge" will become the flagship of the Commander-in-Chief, Atlantic Fleet, in place of His Majesty's ship "Queen Elizabeth."
Are we to understand that the "Revenge" will take the place of the "Queen Elizabeth" as Fleet flagship, or that she will be a unit in the fleet of which she forms a part?
She will take the place of the flagship.
Are we to understand that it is the intention of the Government to retain the Fleet flagship, apart from and quite outside of the existing organisation of the various battle squadrons?
No, a unit of the Fleet.
