45.asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the considerable expenditure of lime and money involved in the present method of Members being sworn in after a General Election, he will consider the possibility of Members in future taking the Oath before their returning officers immediately after their election?
No, Sir, I do not think that this proposal is desirable or practicable. As the hon. Member was informed in reply to a similar question on the 5th December, 1022, the arrangements (hen made for the swearing-in of Members worked admirably and with the minimum of inconvenience to Members themselves. I understand that the arrangements made this time were equally satisfactory.
