Oral Answers to Questions — Post Office. – in the House of Commons am ar 17 Ionawr 1924.
asked the Postmaster-General if he is able to state how many licences have been taken out under the regulations for broadcasting what proportion of them are experimental; and what have been the numbers applied for during the last three months respectively?
The total number of licences for wireless reception issued up to the end of December last was approxi- mately 585,000, of which about 58,000 were experimental licences and 527,000 licences for broadcast reception. Of the latter about 65,000 were due to be renewed before the middle of January, and I cannot yet state how many of these have actually been renewed. During the last three months of 1923 approximately 405,000 licences for broadcast reception were issued. The total number of experimental licences remained practically unchanged.
