asked the Minister of Labour how many strikes have occurred between co-operative societies and their workers for the year ending 31st March, 1923; and how many workers were involved?
During the year ended 31st March, 1923, 12 disputes, resulting in stoppages of work, were reported to the Ministry of Labour as having arisen between co-operative societies in Great Britain and their employés. The total number of workpeople involved in these disputes was approximately 2,640.
Has the right hon. Gentleman any knowledge of a strike at Silvertown, where the workers demanded a living wage from a co-operative society?
I have no special information on that subject, but if the hon. Member wishes to put down a question on the Paper I will get particulars.
Will the right hon. Gentleman also tell us how the numbers compare with those in regard to strikes by employés of capitalist organisations?
